Abstract One of the actual issues of the clinical medicine is the development of drugs with antibiofilm activity, since modern antimicrobial agents have specific effect that affects relatively planktonic microorganisms only. Adamantane derivatives are the most prospective for the development of new effective and safe drugs, because this compounds are capable of inhibiting the growth and reproduction of planktonic and biofilm microorganisms, in particular Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Investigation of the mechanism of specific antibiofilm activity of the compound showed that KVM-97 in subinhibiting concentration (0.5 MIC) reduced the synthesis of proteins and polysaccharides - structural components of the matrix of P. aeruginosa biofilms; its action was superior to referent antimicrobials meropenem and ciprofloxacin. KVM-97 does not affect the synthesis of Pel-polysaccharide.

Анотація Одним із актуальних питань клінічної медицини є розробка препаратів з антибіоплівковою активністю, оскільки сучасні антимікробні засоби виявляють специфічну дію тільки відносно планктоннихмікроорганізмів. Перспективними сполуками для розробки нових ефективних і безпечних препаратів є похідні адамантану, оскільки вони здатні інгібувати ріст та розмноження планктонних та біоплівкових мікроорганізмів, зокрема і Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Дослідження механізму специфічної антибіоплівкової активності сполуки показало, що КВМ-97 у субінгібуючій концентрації (0,5 МІК) порушує синтез білків та полісахаридів – структурних компонентів матриксу біоплівок P. aeruginosa і переважає дію меропенему та ципрофлоксацину. КВМ-97 не впливає на синтез Pel-полісахариду.
